Pedestrians have a RIGHT too!

Pedestrians have a RIGHT to use the roads too!

I am noticing a very DANGEROUS growing trend of Drivers really taking GREAT pleasure in frightening Pedestrians who are crossing the road. When they see people crossing instead of braking or slowing down manually, they are speeding up and even seeming to enjoy causing person to run for their lives...

This is not funny and perhaps they need to consider reviewing the position from the other side, from the perspective of persons watching other road users. What kind of example are these drivers setting.

I had an experience that was very frightening recently where a Female Driver actually attempted to run me out of the road!  I was crossing the road already and she actually pressed on her accelerator and veered in my direction! But if it was the only incidence of this nature that would not be so worrying but its a persistent and habitual occurrence.

I have been driving since my teens, and I HAVE NEVER EVER in my life taken this approach to driving. Knowing too much about mechanical failures and probability to take chances with my own life or others!

Additionally in the instance of using a "Zebra Crossing" its not optional whether a Driver stops to allow persons to cross.  Its actually in the Road Code that Pedestrians have a right of way also, ESPECIALLY on a Pedestrian crossing!

PLEASE contact me if you need to learn some better driving skills!

The issue of Road Safety in Jamaica is serious and is an area that really requires more attention, not only in relation to surfacing of roads, which has been the main concern for our government it seems. But also some thought and attention needs to be given to educating and even re-training drivers to eliminate bad practices and habits. The largest numbers of fatalities in Jamaica are still caused by RTAs (Road Traffic Accidents). Partially due to poor signage, bad road conditions and also inexperienced drivers, or lack of knowledge of the Road Code.

The most risk occurs when persons are not confident or uncertain of their right of way, hesitating and causing obstructions.  Or when not observing the other drivers closely on the road and claiming and assuming authority on roads without without proper care or thought of the consequences of aggressive, wreckless and uncompromising actions.
